AquinasLAX

ya please define what you mean by "hardest". do you mean like got the most street cred, the biggest gangster, like someone "you wouldnt want to meet in a dark alley" lol or do you mean like someone that trys to portray themselves being hard and gangsta but rly aint. or do you just mean like a good rapper in the game today

If you mean actual hard...C-Murder. I mean, cmon, kills a guy, then breaks out of prison...badass.

Although I doubt you guys have heard of him...he hasn't had much success outside of Louisiana.

c-murder is pretty real. he got some sick songs. prbly his most well known song is "yall heard of me"

also, immortal technique is probably one the most underrated rapper of all time. and the man qualifies for being one of the "hardest mc's" as you wanted to know lol. but for real tho, go listen to his song called, dance with the devil, and actually listen to the lyrics. it will send chills down your spine and prbly one of the realest songs ive ever listened to

DMX is only rough cause he's a crackhead. If I were a crackhead, I'd be damn rough too. It's either gotta be Nas, Big L, or Beanie Sigel. Listen to Sigel's "What Your Life Like?" and tell me that's not the realest thing you've heard in a long long time. Big L was shot three times in the dome, three years later his identical looking brother was mercked in the same fashion on the same street. The roughest MC of them all has to be Nas. Ether anyone?

How is Nas rough? Ether? how does dissing Jay-Z on a track make him hard?

I'd say Ol' Dirty ******* from Wu-Tang would be up there he was shot on 3 different occasions.

But seriously who cares? I'm more worried about how good their music not anything else.

This is by far the stupidest argument I have ever heard. I also hate it when people say "Wayne is fake, Wayne isn't hard". I don't listen to Wayne because I think he is a thug, I listen to him because his music is enjoyable. So telling me he isn't "real" means absolutely nothing to me.

WOW, you couldn't be more wrong. If tech wanted to be the "cool kid" don't you think he would have signed with a significant label? if you cant feel tech's lyrics, you might be retarded. What he spits is real and he flows like no other. Listen to a dance with the devil and youll understand what i mean. He tells a story while rhyming for 8 minutes straight, i dont think any other mc can do that. Also for those of you who think lil wayne is a "beast on the mic," youre dead wrong. he says insignificant stuff just for the sake of rhyming. Example: (from The Sky's the Limit)"when I was 5 my favorite movie was the gremlins, it ain't got [no profanity] to do with this I just thought that i would mention"

jmk i couldnt agree with you more, i was just about to reply back bout immortal technique to this fool zak until i saw yours. if immortal technique wanted to be the cool kid in school he would have signed with a major label. he says the reason he hasnt signed is because when he was young and comming up none of the labels gave him a chance and they all f'ed him over. so now when he is hot and all the labels on his d, he sayin f yall to them. he rhymes for the love of the game and nothing more, cant get any more real then that. and ya wayne sayin some dumb stuff on the mic, but some of it sure is catchy tho...but that dont mean jack when your talkin bout being a real mc

So that makes him garbage? What makes that insignificant? Because he watched Gremlins when he was a kid? Would you prefer if he had been watching his parents get murdered? Because he doesn't rap about real crime, and real people dieing he isn't a beast on the mic? That must be the most ignorant thing I ever read in my life.

Personally, I think that is a great line. You know why? Because it is catchy/funny and it flows. That is Wayne's style. And if you ask me it is a lot more enjoyable to listen to than Immortal Technique for example, who nobody would say isn't "real" in his songs.

Found this review on amazon.com that pretty much sums up everything that I want to say:

"This guy is getting props from lots of pseudo-underground hip-hop fans who admire IT's vehement political stance and 'skeletal' production style. Take a step back, though. For someone whose pseudonym apparently boasts of his lyrical prowess, IT's flow is pathetic, and his rhymes sound like bad sixth form poetry. The production is certainly skeletal, but also sounds like it was made on fruity loops in about five minutes. Any idea of subtlety, nuance, or hey, musicality goes out the window to make way for IT's cheap imitation of Chuck D. When there's political hip-hop as tight as the likes of Nephlim Modulation Systems, Black Radical Mk II and Orko the Sycotik Alien, Immortal Technique is the last place you would need to look."

Fool? ...right. Westside pretty much summed it up. Any other MC? Eminem, Rakim, KRS, Jay, Chuck D, they can all do it for a whole CD. And why do you think IT is "cool," because he DIDNT sign. Signing on has nothing to do with how genuine of an mc he is. No, he wanted to be the cool kid, so he said outrageous stuff that you dont even agree with, dropped enough n-bombs (hes not black), and trashed bush, and signed on an indie label, and a significant one at that.

Rakim is an MC. IT is just a lyricist trying to be an MC.

then listen to Peruvian Cocaine, Harlem Streets, or Freedom of Speech. They are all very good and real songs. All of you that say IT isn't real are just ignorant, he could be making millions right now if he had signed with a major record label. But I'm glad he didn't because i think he could have sold out...But I think the greatest rapper alive right now would have to be Nas, everything he touches turns to gold. Every single song he writes is and instant classic.

Im also not a huge fan of Wayne..but Im just pointing something out..The majority of his songs have to do with food and being "hungry"(the hunger to succeed)..and the Gremlins were notorious for eating..Just putting that out there..like..some of the stuff he says that seems retarded does relate. But yeah he does say some stupid stuff sometimes..

And as far as the actual thread goes..IT is out of his mind..And theres a british rapper named Klashnekoff whos out of his gord..Most people here in the states dont know much about him though.

Um, I'm gonna have to toss Tech N9ne out there as my favorite MC/Rapper/whatever. In terms of rapping/rhyming ability, he's incredibly quick and fluid, even though his delivery is often quite unique. The way he puts it together makes for really "fun" music to listen to. Like I don't get jacked up or anything listening to his music, but I'm always smiling or laughing.

Needless to say most of his lyrics aren't "hard", but man some of them are funny as hell.

Lil Wayne is not the hardest MC out there, hes not even close. How are you going to say that a guy who raps about eating food and cooking is the HARDEST MC out there. Maybe if BET ever needs a cooking show he can host it but the guys a joke, hes modern rap. Hes a joke compared to Easy-E, Tupac, NAS, Dre, Notorious BIG, and even Snoop.

Anybody who said 50 Cent knows nothing, the guy did a song with Justin Timberlake and i think that proves my point.

I hate modern Rap/Hip Hop, its just a bunch of cocky guys talking about how hard they are and how many girls they can get. Its like listening to the most arrogant kid in school for an entire CD, its not music.

Listen to Brotha Lynch, guys crazy.

What are you talking about? As far as I've seen (in this thread) not that many people called Lil Wayne the hardest? Matter of fact, I don't think Wayne tries to be hard in his music. He's clearly said in his songs "I've never killed anyone". He just tries to entertain, which he does, very successfully.

I've seen a couple of people in this thread say Wayne is the hardest, theres even a Lil Wayne megathread. Im not saying you have to kill somebody to be hard, thats just stupid. But the guy talks about food all the time, that just doesnt make good music. Hes certainly not the hardest MC out there, some people might find him entertaining and thats their opinion, but personally i find his voice very annoying and his lyrics are just stupid IMO. But not everybody likes the same music so im not going to knock someone for liking something that i dont, i just think there is much better music out there than Lil Wayne, 50 Cent and all these new "ringtone artists" like Soulja Boy, Timbaland, and Lil Wayne.

I think before this thread goes on (well, it probably shouldn't), a definition for "hardest" needs to be set. I think most of the people saying Lil Wayne are just saying his name because he is their favorite, not because they think he is the "hardest".

Personally, I think Wayne is on a different level than the "ringtone artists" like Soulja Boy, Timbaland and 50 Cent. Wayne's songs aren't full of repetitive choruses flaunting money, women and sex. At times does he rap about each of those? Of course, but his lyrics (whether you choose to like them or not) do mean something. His metaphorical rhyming is unmatched and the fact that he does it all freestyle can hardly be topped.

Lil Wayne is amazing. Guy doesn't just say and repeat dumb lyrics over and over like the song "Ay Bay bay" For example. He rhymes about real stuff and throws it together. Other than that, Dipset is real good.

the thing is, thats how all the crap on mtv is nowadays, so thats what everyone thinks is rap

personally i despise rap because of that fact, but when i listen to actual rap, which rarely happens, like DMX or something, i recognize it as music, completely separate from the stupid repeating of 7 words to a beat for 5 minutes

And I don't think repeating 7 'stupid' words for five minutes disqualifies anything as music.
