greg oden is done is this season because of knee surgery. That ridiculous. After all the hype, he misses out an ENTIRE season. Portland and its fans are extrememly unlucky.

I agree. Why does he deserve it? Because he was picked over Durant? Thats hardly a reason to have that kind of pain in your knees.
Its too bad for him. I hope he comes back and does really well.

if he doesnt bounce back from this it could be the worst #1 pick of all time ecspecially if durant turns into a jordan-esque player

Does he deserve it, no, but I've never been a fan or supporter of guys who think they're ready to leave school and enter the pros before they're grown up (if they ever do) or have earned a degree to fall back on (though I give props to guys who go back to school in the offseason like Shaq did). I have nothing against Oden, but what if this had been a career ender. Both he and the Blazers would have egg on their face, bit then again a guy who goes all 4 years in college and comes into the draft with a BA is just as likely to be a bust.

but, say portland has a bad season again without oden and get the number 1 draft pick again next year?

I don't know too much about basketball, but if they got the No. 1 next year, wouldn't OJ Mayo be the consensus #1.

I don't think so. Probably be someone like Hibbert cause he's just so huge or maybe Hansbrough or maybe Dominic James. Mayo might be it but he isn't like Durant or Oden coming into college. He has hype but not nearly as much. But he could shine on USC's team because they don't have a whole lot of standout guys.

this is to bad, knee injuries, are hard to bounce back from, even more for someone in the NBA and someone his size, i was almost sure, he was going to make an impact really soon like with in the next two seasons

Whoo!
Another W for Seattle. :-)
Edit: That was mean. I hope he gets better and becomes a beast. I actually really like Oden.... Or any player with a lot of blocks actually. I love blocks.

hes still very young and has plenty of time.
and if a guy gets hurt that doesnt automatically make him a bust. a guy who people thought was good but did not perform well is a bust.
i dont really support guys coming out of college early, especially after 1 year, it ruins the whole point of it

Wont be the first time its happened to Portland. They drafted Sam Bowie with the first pick awhile back and he got injured and sucked. hahaha, man that sucks for portland.
