Saints are going to make it
They'll need help.
Who do they play?

Saints play Bears.
Washington plays Dallas
Vikings play Broncos.
So you're saying that the Vikings will lose to a weak Denver team and Washington will lose to a resting Dallas team? Hmm...

Washington will not beat Dallas. Terrell Owens is not as big a loss as everyone is heralding him to be. Romo still has Crayton and Hurd to throw to (two very capable receivers), and the dual running attack of Barber and Jones will dominate a mediocre Washington run defense.

What makes you think Romo will play teh whole game? If I have a star QB with a thumb injury, I play him for a quarter, then let him sit.
I guess our mediocre Run defense somehow held Peterson to only 27 yards, most of which came on two runs in the late 4th quarter when we were playing prevent.
Dallas is the real deal, don't get me wrong. But I wouldn't be surprised if you guys lost simply because you have no reason to win. Not that winning against a rival is never satisfying, but I can't see Phillips taking a chance with nothing to gain.

Washington run defense that has been playing extremely well as of late, and Crayton and Hurd are nothing without the threat of TO on the field.

You stopped Peterson by putting eight men in the box. You were able to do that because Tavaris Jackson can't perform under pressure. However, you won't be able to get away with that with Romo on the field.
Romo's thumb wasn't quite injured, either. The MRI came back negative on any sort of sprain, it was just bruised. He played fine against the Panthers, and I'm sure he'll be even better tomorrow. I'm expecting at least 150 yards out of the 'Boys' backs, too.

You expect Romo to play the whole game? Even if he does, I doubt Jones and Barber succeed that well.

I'm actually fine with just making Romo throw the ball. Again the last time we played the only player to score a TD was TO, who was exploiting our lack of Sean Taylor (RIP). And considering the types of games Romo sometimes has (think Bills), I am completely fine with us just loading the box again and making him throw.
Of course we're not going to do that because despite the fact that the Dallas running game might be good, it's not as good as the Vikings (who we owned). You are severely underestimating a Redskins team that came within three of beating Dallas the last time they played, and a Redskins team that now has much more to play for.

every team in the NFC East hates each other. it's going to be a game, even if wade philips doesn't want it to be.

Even me the biggest Cowboys fan out there, think that they have a very great chanve of losing this game. The recipe is perfect for the Skins. No TO, No andre Gurode, Romo will be out by the end of the 1st, and a team that already has everything wrapped up. To me that seems like the Redskins have a great shot. Plus, they are playing for everything.

I would also think Witten and Barber (though I think he'll probably see more action than any other of Dallas' offensive threats) might be limited as well, especially considering their impact this season, especially Witten. With no telling how TOs high ankle sprain will factor into the post season, Witten is Dallas' top dog at receiving at the moment and a dangerous threat all around that I wouldn't want to risk him either.
That being said, when it comes to rivalries in the NFC Beast, it doesn't matter whose record is what, mutual hatred means all bets are off.

That's why I love being in the NFC east, it's just more fun than any other conference. Everyone hates each other and the Dallas-Washington rivalry is one of the best in sports.

Could not agree more RG47, the beast of the easts always show up to play. It is also a huge rivalry game so no matter what both teams want to win. So, I guess Wade might try and win this one, but in my opinion he shouldn't. I just looked at the Cowboys site, and it said that he's going to play to win, if it bites him in the a$$ I will be one angry fan.

Honestly, most "teams" could probably beat the pro bowl teams. Great players, great athletes, no chemistry.

if the nfc pro bowl team had been practicing since the start of the season, theyd beat the patriots. ware, kerney, peterson, and kampman would bring heat on every passing play. al harris is physical enough to match up with randy moss and the athletic safeties and linebackers would contain welker.

The Patriots would have met their match.

Were the Redskins completely healthy in week 1, I thought they were still missing Smoot or Springs? Can we atleast throw in Demarcus Ware?
Meade Lacrosse
12-28-2007, 01:10 PM
We were completely healthy in our secondary week 1. Springs just sat out a few series because of the luxury of having 3 starting CBs. We'd let Smoot run around at CB at times, and just didn't risk Springs in fear of him getting hurt.
I also didn't mean that our back 4 and Seattle's front 7 were the only good ones at their position. I just took who I thought was the collective best at the two parts of Defense. Certainly Ware would be welcome, but I didn't want to mix and match.

Yes that was an amazing running performance that Dallas managed to put forth. One whole rushing yard the entire game is quite outstanding:lol:
Now on the the main event WASHINGTON DOMINATES DALLAS 27-6. Dallas did not manage to convert a single third down and their defense could not stop a potent running game (Portis alone rushed for 104 which is the first time that any player put up one hundred yards against Dallas) and the combination of Collins to Santana Moss is looking just amazing. Next up is a match up with a Seahawks team that has been beaten by some pretty mediocre teams this year (they just lost to a struggling Atlanta team). This is a rematch of the 2006 playoff game where Washington lost 20-10, I think Washington will win, they came out in this Dallas game completely fired up, it was obvious who wanted it more, and I think that this trend will continue. I think that the skins could make it to the super bowl, as I have said before I think that they are the most underrated team in the NFL, they are hot right now, and except for the patriots and the Eagles (where the skins let Westbrook walk into the endzone so that they could regain possession) they have not lost by a touchdown or more.
On another note how poetic would it be if the skins get into the super bowl. Not only because of the death of Sean Taylor, and the four game win steak, but because the last time a team went undefeated (Miami) it was the skins that they beat in the super bowl.
edit: and before anyone says that Dallas wasn't trying, they played all their starters for the entire first half, where the skins scored most of their points, and for the first drive of the second half. And really the only starter that was pulled out was Romo.

Hrmph, I don't relish losing period, poetry or not (we lost badly enough last time to the Pats, though we are the hottest team going right now, if it were to be Pats v Skins my only thoughts would be upset and not repeating history, no matter how far fetched that might be). But what is important is we beat Dallas (this is a game that means blood no matter what's on the line) and didn't have to back our way in.
I think Philips was absolutely stupid for putting Romo back in for that final play of the half, that sack could have very well ended a lot worse than it did, especially with Glenn & Witten needing to leave the game to avoid injury as well.

First of all, Peyton is a harder quarterback to replace than Brady. He isn't just a great player, he is a great leader, and a coach on the field.
That said, I think there are other quarterbacks in the league who could have led the Patriots to an undefeated season. I think Brady is a fantastic quarterback, don't get me wrong, but no one is as valuable to their team as #4 is to the green and gold.

Its not like he was playing outstanding.
Romo relies sincerely on TO, without whom teams can blitz him. Now, Romo isn't the kind of QB who will get rattled, but he's not that smart that he can pick apart defenses in 2 seconds.

The Giant's Brandon Jacobs has been averaging 5 yards a carry. He averaged 4.7 against the Pats.
The colts are the exception. However when watching the game I felt the Patriots clearly had the game in control regardless of the scoreboard.

He get's that kind of YPC because he runs sparingly. Though I agree the Giants would be more effective if they ran him more, they don't. They just leave it up to Eli, for better or for worse. He only has something like four or five rushing touchdowns on the year, too. You don't get numbers that low on a run-first team

Oh, it was just a hold on San Diego. Didn't affect the play too much I thought, but nonetheless it was brought back.
However, what a game! I feel kinda bad for Manning, as both his interceptions came off of tipped passes, and otherwise he played a great game. Sproles was incredible, as usual. His speed astounds me every time he touches the ball. No matter what happens in New England next week, San Diego will be great next year. Tonight they've showcased their fantastic special teams (the Sproles and Cromartie duo is better than Devin Hester in my opinion, and how about that punter?), good secondary (they gave up a lot of yards in the air, but they also came up big in their own territory, and at the end of the game. Antonio Cromartie is the best corner in the league), and vicious pass rush, led by Shawne Merriman. Their running game will be fantastic, as usual, but with Turner and Sproles having big games, they'll be more dynamic. And Phillip Rivers is blossoming into a great quarterback. Even with a lame left leg, he could still move and avoid the pass rush, making great throws outside the pocket on several occasions. Their receivers are nothing to laugh at either. Obviously we know about Gates, but Jackson is emerging as a force. And don't forget Chambers, either.
I'm feeling good about SD next year.

Congrats to the G-Men for beating my Cowboys. They won fair and squeare and I won't complain. The main reason they lost was dumb penalties mostly on offense. Also when in the red zone that throw to TO was bad by romo, and the dropped pass by Crayton that would been a 50 yard gain. Besides those plays it was a very even game. I am cheering for the Packers though. I want to see Favre light up the secondary. So if I pissed of anyone or talked to much trash... I am eating my words now, believe me.

Im so happy that SD won that game. Nobody was really giving them a chance, and they proved that they dont need Rivers or LT to put points on the board. However they will not be able to do that against the Patriots, hopefully Cromartie can keep making amazing interceptions to keep them in the game next week. I want to say that SD is going to the Superbowl, but i know they dont have a very good chance, unless they use all three of their backs against NE.

Romo grew up 15 minutes from where I live in a small town called Burlington (Yes, it is Wisconsin). While there might not have been much to compete with Jessica, he was second in Mr. Basketball voting for the state (only behind Caron Butler) and it was said his best sport was golf. Anybody that talented, had plenty of choices when it came to women.
As for the playoffs, Packers verse Patriots. Good versus Evil. Favre versus Brady. Youngest team in the NFL versus the Dynasty. Anybody else feeling it?

HONESTLY if your girlfriend was jessica simpson i bet you'd go to mexico with her no matter what you was doin that weekend
Exactly. And anyone who thinks Spending time in Mexico as compared to spending time with team mates or watching film would be no different in terms of football production is foolish.
Romo grew up 15 minutes from where I live in a small town called Burlington (Yes, it is Wisconsin). But...She's Jessica Simpson. I can only think of like 3 women that can compete with her.
And yes, that SB would be epic.

Laugh all you want, but I love T.O. He's done a complete 360 from past years, and for him to show that much emotion and passion for the game and his team is encouraging. What he said was correct - they lost more from poor tackling than Romo's mediocre performance

I'm not gonna argue with you, thats very un-T.O. like to cry about the inevitably scrutiny his QB will unfairly get.

eli manning has been an animal the past 3 games. his lowest passer rating in a game was 117.1.

Who would have thought that the only Manning playing this weekend would be Eli?

very true. but in my opinion the colts lost because of the big brother...
Peyton tried to force the ball way way too much, especially on the final drive. the interceptions however, were not because of peyton at all.

I'd have probably guessed Ricky or Daniel before Eli (before the season).

I disagree. Peyton looked sharp as usual. A big hit separated the ball from Wayne on a perfectly thrown pass. A great deflection on one play by a San Diego linebacker. The pass to Dallas Clark is a catch 4 out of 5 times.

That ball went straight through Dallas's hands. It wasn't even tipped. If I were a Colts fan I'd be pissed.

Yeah I know, the announcers made it sound like Peyton missed him? Looked like a perfect pass to me.
