ok, yeah i get a lot of heads bec i work at a lax shop and im using my employee discount + the 15% discount for the off-season to get them, so instead of lik 80 for the guardian, i get them for about 40, and lik 25 for an eclipse and about 43 for a nemesis, anyway the jimalax 20d is by far the best mesh i have ever purchased. if strung right (by right i mean no bunching up, and closed sidewalls) it has no whip with proper shooter placement. i strign the stick till there is no more pinching of the mesh or bunching in the sidewall so im left a nice arc'd pocket so to speak. i got another nemesis today and more mesh so i will proly string another nemesis tonite. but yea, give jimalax a call and get some 20d, you wont be sry.

if that stick throws....with that deep of a pocket.....you have to restring my stick for me

MClothier
10-14-2004, 11:20 PM
it throws quite nicely. it has shelf so it gives just enough "whip" to have control of the ball istead of the ball just being flung out of the pocket. the deep pocket gives the ball a nice channel to follow. the mesh is strung up somewhat tight at the top gradually getting looser. it has a nice arc'd pocket as u can see from the pics. if u want me to restring jsut let me kno i will be happy to.

How's the season shaping up? What are your thoughts about WRHS's ability to return some of it's former glory. It's interesting to read how the paths of GHS & WRHS have been steadily moving in opposite directions. Is that a direct reflection of Westside youth? Or, is it due to coaching, player's skills/attitudes, or some combination of both? Approximately 10 years ago WRHS was a dominant upper tier program.

Good luck-

All of the westside kids are now starting to end up in golden.... i m a juniore and since my freshman year we have had 2 diff coaches.... our program almost was cut because we werent going to have a coach.... We have some very great players it just seems like they want the glory for themselves so they wont work together.... plus most of the team is lazy.... Golden is almost the exact opposite... they have skilled players that would rather have an assist than a goal .... A lot of things took our teams reputation down.... hopefully we can get our acts together... thankyou for your concern

That's a shame. I witnessed a few games circa '94 and WRHS seemed to have all of the ingredients for a quality team. I was impressed with their players knowledge, skill, athleticism and attitude. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they string together several consecutive undefeated seasons?

Any idea as to why things went south in such a short amount of time?

i have no idea and yeah there were a few undefeated seasons a couple years back.... hopefulyy things will change around... for next year

mclothier, how did you get your pocket that big? I have jimalax 12 D on my eclipse and it will never get that deep no matter how long in pound it...and its been roughly 2 seasons

This will be the 1st year our coaches are coming back for a 2nd year. I am pumped. Watch for EA this year.

Can goalies' pockets be illegal?
goalie pockets can be as deep as you want and are never illegal, but you should have it a little more shallow than the one in the picture

Lax101

i thought theres some rule where the goalies pocket cant be like 20 balls deep

LCNlaxman
10-30-2004, 12:24 AM
there are no rules against it. the rulebook states "when one can see daylight between the ball and the bottom of the sidewall, it is considered illegal. This does not apply to the goalkeeper." and it has no restrictions

MClothier

westside- i would just get new mesh (10d or 20d imo) before you string it tho, soak it in hot water until its very soft. then stretch the living daylights out of it ( it should be twice as wide than it would be without the water) then strign it up and leave a ball in it over night or pound it for a long time. as for the legallities, 4 balls deep, if you can hold the stick more than 90º and the ball wont come out, or if the ball and mesh czn be pulled over or under the sidewall.

even if there was a "20 ball deep rule", no galie would be stupid enough to do that(if they could find that deep a mesh)

one of my coaches from my lax camp had 3 eclipses, all with monster mesh, and all three of them had the same depth on the pocket, you could stack 4 balls in the deepest part and it would meet the sidewalls, it was insane, i never thought a pocket could get that big, or even throw when it gets there.

MClothier
11-11-2004, 12:26 AM
yea i have done the same thing with my 2 nemesises, about 3.5 balls deep, and u put the pocket toward the lower side(less whip, more room for the ball to release)

12-09-2004, 12:24 AM
Isnt there a rule where its illegal if you can take the ball at its deepest point and wrap it around a sidewall?

well if someone wanted to use a fish net they could....
