I am completely aware of the Dodge thread but it does not fully answer my question. I know that the dodge has to be done quick and subtle but is there a special way to bring it around ur back to make the transfer quicker... just wondering help would be great

I don't really think there is a special technique for it.....Just keep trying to do it a bunch of times and I'm sure you'll get it. It also helps for your pocket to be deeper so the ball has a less chance of falling out.

you could try flipping your top hand over kinda like the motorcycle grip for faces offs.. it makes the movement a little easier

Or you could split dodge and not expose your entire chest and face to getting blasted.
Sternums are important.

instead of split dodging infront of your face you do it behind your back

Cbury: the behind the back dodge is basically what it sounds like, you exchange your stick from one hand to the other behind your back.
Here is a better explanation http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=30990

I would assume you try to keep the stick as vertical as you can, maybe with some angle to it, just to get the stick in your other hand quickly and ready to go back into a cradle, but I guess it depends on the person. I've tried it myself, but i don't think there is anyone yet who is an authority on proper "behind the back split dodge" technique. ;D

Here's the only way I seeing this being useful:
Rather than splitting or rolling, you could do this BTB dodge a few times so your defender would know when it's coming, then do the dodge halfway so he changes directions, then take off. Like do a rocker, but bring your stick behind you.

Actually someone has an authority of proper btb dodge. Wheelax2 can do it, in the dodge mega thread he claims that he is either the creator or one of the first ones to do it properly.
L. Behind-the-Back Dodge
This is a little move that WHEELAX2 made up in college, so I'll let him explain it for you.
I'm pretty darn sure I invented this dodge back in my freshman year at college, but then again who knows.. The BTB dodge is where you start going in one direction with the stick in your right hand, then you switch hands by moving the stick behind your back...
Basically, it's a split dodge or a change of direction dodge, but you switch hands behing the back. It is, like the swim move, based on the element of suprise that you get from the defender; it must be done quickly and subtly to work successfully.

Theoretically it could work well. But....
It seems like the motion of quickly swinging the stick behind your back would make you lean backwards a bit. As I stand in my room doing this laterally, I can feel my body weight shifting backwards. Not much, but enough to prevent you from doing another quick dodge right after.
EDIT: Although now that I'm keeping the stick more vertical as I make the switch, I'm not feeling myself lean as much. Another problem I could see with this is that after you've put your right hand behind your back and given the stick to the left hand, the defender has time to poke/slap/whatever at your stick while you're swinging your right arm back over for protection.

Ok, when you go to bring the stick behind your back, what do you do? Leave the whole front side of your body open. Honestly i've only done it a few times, but my advice is not to use it on a regular basis, unless you enjoy getting totally Rocked.
