What is the easier and best sound quality way to play my iPod touch in a Mercedes through the speakers?

If you don't have a hook up thing already then get the cassette thing. It sounds good. If you don't have a cassette player then that sucks because the fm transmitters suck.

yeah the fm transmitters do suck, dont get those. get a cassete tape connector, or my cousin has some thing that he got done at the shop, where it is connected directly to his sound system some how.

If you have an AUX jack on your radio, you can buy a cord at Best Buy for like 15 bucks.

My friends suburban has the AUX cord, but this car doesn't. I'll look into the tape cassette. Any particular brand?

My cassette transmitter didn't work, but my wireless FM one has been flawless.

make sure that you will be able to close the tape deck with the cord sticking out. if not, it won't work.
what kind/year of car is it? i could look up pics and see how it would/could work

Buy a new headunit that has a front mount aux input. That will provide the best sound.

I have the wire that goes in my Alpine head unit. Sound quality is perfect I just wish you could control the iPod from itself.

if you dont have a cassat player. dont think a merc will or have a head unit with a socket you can plug into your baest bet will be a FM transmitter that you can plug into your lighter socket which in turn plugs into your ipod. those are best cause they dont move around which is the root cause of quality problems with transmitters. but if you want to go all out you can just get a neew head unit that has a socket. you might even be able to get a good audio shop to hardwire an ipod chrger cord into your head unit that will charge your ipod as well as connect it to your stero. it would just be on one of the aux settings.

PM me if you have ?'s.

Its an '03 E-500. I could take it to the dealership and have an integration system installed which would allow me to play the ipod digitally through the speakers. This would mean the song would show up on the screen and all that.

That will be your best bet then.

yea just do that. prolly the best thing to do since its better to take it to the place you bought it to keep it under warrenty, if it still is.

I'm hearing that in suburban and metropolitan areas, the transmitters don't work well at all due to all the radio frequencies.

Can anyone confirm? Because I'm looking at an FM transmitter for my new car, and I'm not sure where to go with this.

It's not that they are bad, its just that they are more likely to intercept other people beaucse of a higher volume of cars using the same frequency.

I get what you're saying.

Would you recommend using the cassette over an FM transmitter?

Transmitters pretty much suck. The cassettes work really well and it's cool that you can use your iPod to pick the songs. If my car had a cassette player I would have just gotten one of those.

Wireless transmitters suck.

But, this works perfect. Anybody who says it sucks has never used one. The sound quality is perfect and it charges your ipod as it plays. (http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-9501-TRIPCBL-iTrip-Transmitter-Charger/dp/B000BWACX2)
