i've got a class project that i need to do and i was hoping i could get some useful information.
when my teacher assigned this project (even though we are only in 9th grade) she thought it would be good to get us involved with worldwide issues like the presidential election.
so what i'm looking for is as much information on Bush and Kerry as i can get. not like biographical info, but political info. any and ALL political info.
all help is appreciated!

We're not going to do your schoolwork for you. You can find that information at either of the party websites, by searching online, by calling party HQs, or any of myriad ways. Go hog wild.

No one here is more qualified or at least as accurate as any of the sources you'll find elsewhere.

I heard that John Kerry likes to kill and eat cute little kittens and he's addicted to smack.

he also holds puppies over lighters.
Seriously though, check the voting records for kerry in congress, and the laws that got passed in texas while bush was gov.
Check what they've been involved in, and that'll help you refine your searches.

oh really? all of them were guilty? if you think that, you should probably check out some reports on innocent people that have been put to death all over the US. You might find that quite a few people have been proven innocent, or have been put to death because of false evidence. Check it out.

Bush doesn't decide who goes on death row.
We have courts that decide that.

There men sentenced to death who were under 18 when they committed the crime. There were mentally retarded men sent to death. There was too a whole wide range of metal disabilites that prevented the person from having full knowledge of their actions.
To speak on another issue on the death penalty the system itself is flawed. A black person is almost 2 times as likely to be put to death.

The Supreme Court is in the process of ruling on minors and mental retarded. At the time, it was still legal so that's hardly a valid argument, plenty of intelligent people believe both are okay.
The other argument is pure emotion, nothing more. Some statistics regarding the committance of crime on a racially-stratified basis or numbers sentenced to die coupled with those executed would reveal if there really is a bias, or just you trying to color him as racist.

We were discussing the death penalty in Texas, not Illinois. Your article, while interesting, does not further that debate. If you are suggesting that all 170 death penalties invoked in the Bush term were ill-gotten, I suggest you pull your head out of whatever bucket it's in. Your beef is with the law enforcement system, not the governor.

Color me racist (haha, get it) but maybe that just means black people commit more crimes. There are more black people in prisions as well. More black people are found guilty. Having sat on two juries, I didn't see any evidence that people were unfairly judging black people...actually, it was the opposite that seemed to be true. Because more black people are found guilty, more black people commit crimes. To suggest otherwise would be to indicate a vast conspiricy at the national level. The most likely hypothesis is usually the best.
As for mental disabilities, and under the age of 18, if you can't operate in society, then you don't deserve to be a part of it. A murder is just as terrible no matter what the age or intellegence of the person committing it is. If they were big-boy enough to kill or rape someone, then they can take their punishment like everyone else.

Don't be extreme JJ, he's hardly saying that. But actions have consequences and everyone must understand that, be they 16 or 60, Down's syndrome or PhD in physics.

Only if they commit somthing worthy of the death penalty in the first place. I agree there's a better case for mentally handicapped person, but the victum is just as dead if it's Osama (for example, don't change the subject) or Lenny from Mice and Men. Age shouldn't have that much of a bearing either. Also, the courts should bring out if it was an accident or intentional.
People should be responsible for their actions. If they're not safe to be around, they should be somewhere where they shouldn't be a danger to the general public. The justice system isn't perfect, but it's the best we've got.
