I have been getting letters from coaches for a little bit now. Some seem to express real interest in me playing for them. None of them are huge names but, some are DII and they said that i need to file with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Being the only prominant athlete in my family, i am wondering what exactly is the NCAA Clearinghouse. Why do i need to register for it, what does it do. And how would i register for it. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The NCAA clearing house is what athletes form D2 and D1 schools have ot get through to be eligible to play sports in college. You have to have fulfilled certain requirements in high school to be eligible. For example, you have to take 3 years of math, history and english. You have to get your high school to send in a copy of your official high school transcript and then the clearing house lets you know if you meet all fo the requirements. I'm a lacrosse GA for a D2 school, and i just took the test to be certified to recruit, so I know all too well what the clearinghouse entails. It's basically a giant pain in the arse, but it needs ot be done if you're goign to get any scholarship money.

Yea the NCAA clearinghouse owns me. The schools I've been talking to aren't sure if I'm going to pass the clearinghouse so I might not be eligable as a frosh or I might need to go PG or something. Do you know what the exact standards are to pass the clearinghouse?

There are too many requirements to list my friend. It boils down to whether or not you actually went to school and took the proper group of core classes. If you're taking senior slide classes yourr last year it doesn't look good.

Crap, I only have two years of history. Good thing I'm shooting for MDIA. I still have senior year, but I could easily be screwed if I get recruited. Fat chance of that.

basically as long as you are going to get a standard high school diploma and you have a 2.0, you should be fine.

is the clearinghouse just for scholarship money or to play at that certain DI or DII school?
