I currently have two different heads. A Brine Money and an STX Eclipse. I have strung them both many different ways with many different types of mesh. I right now have 12 diamond mesh on my Money with closed sidewalls.
I am currently stringing up my Eclipse with 14 diamond mesh. I want to know whether or not to string with open or closed sidewalls.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of each. When I string with open sidewalls, I feel like my hands don't have to be as "soft" (i.e. give with the ball) as thy do when I have closed sidewalls.
Can anyone give me some info on each? Thanks

Open sidewalls allow for a deeper pocket, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it will throw well either. Closed is more consistent.

Most of the 14d pockets ive seen have had open sidewall, if u string it with closed sidewalls you will probably have to double up though to get a good pocket. If you do open sidewalls i heard that using goalie leathers as runners will make it more consistent.

My daughter has used both closed and open sidewalls on her Nemi. Now that she has open sidewalls, I doubt she'll ever revert back. The rebounds almost completely went away without impacting the accuracy of her clearing passes. She may have lost just a bit in the distance she can clear, but we found that making the mesh very tight across the top and making the top throwing string very tight makes a very nice "platform" for launching the ball. Another disadvantage may be that open sidewalls require a bit more care and maintenance - but it is well worth it for the gains she got.
