How do you get the head totally black insted of having it come out a very dark purple?

first dye it navy using two packets. then dye it black using two packets. and keep the water very very hot

When ive dyed heads black i usually use a bottle of black rit and boiling water then i leaved the head in for a while so it will get really dark. Dye it a dark color first like spy said.

or for me since my team colors are green and white i dye it very very dark green with a whole bottle, the black with a whole bottle keep it very hot. i even know a kid who leaves it in over night

i like to use an old dark color i have laying around, that way i dont have to open a new paket

Just dye it navy blue, then leave it in the black for about 4 hours. But the best way to get a black dye is to search. Jk.:nut:

Maki's solution was probably best. By adding salt, you raise the boiling temperature, allowing you to get the dye hotter. Leave it in for as long as possible, with maybe a bit extra dye, and you'll be good. You shouldn't need to dye it a dark color first.

I always just use 1 packet of black with half the water called for, and some salt.
Also, I suggest dying it navy first. Better safe then sorry (although I never do)
i boil the water until its steaming, add 1 box of powdered black, then half a bottle of liquid black and let in stay there for about 10 minutes. After that, I wash it off with very cold water and throw it in the freezer for about 10 more minutes. I get a perfect black everytime.
