we just got back from the state finals for girls golf in carbondale, IL. i live outside chicago, near wisconsin and carbondale is about, ooo, 7 HOURS drive away! lets see: 2 coaches, 7 players, 7 golf bags, about 25 suitcases/other bags and 9 pillows and blankets all crammed into a 15 passenger van. can you say tight squeeze? lol! but that was the most fun ive had ever! we left on weds 10/13 and didnt get back til sun 10/17. we finished 8th out of 15, and this was only the second time GG has been to state (the other time, like 8 yrs ago or somethin, they finished 16 out of 16!). but that was a really really tough course and everyone struggled, especially on the second day. but yea i took a ton of pictures and have soo many memories! some tears were shed, but our laughter drowned it out! state was something ill never forget! i felt really lucky to go and be only a sophmore and got to thinkin how many people play HS sports but never make it to state finals. so basically, has anyone ever played in a state game/event for anything (lacrosse, golf whatever)?
