he will be good but i don't think he will be as good as he was when he retired. I mostly think it is a marketing ploy so they dont lose fans because grant is done for the season maybe longer.

edit: point prediction 60-70

I am with you on the marketing idea. He will be a great player and one of the best on the team, but I dont expect mvp numbers. The trade makes sense.

Does anyone else think that Gary took it personal when Tavares broke his records? I've seen Master's players with 20 year-old beer guts play a full game without stopping so I'm sure Gait won't miss a beat.

We'll see.

We hear that Rochester will potentially give up a warm body and two high picks. That's a lot for a guy like Gait that has maybe two seasons left in him.

But hey, they're desperate for lefthanded scoring.

If he does play it will be awesome to see him on the field again.

Yes but you would assume that Rochester would talk with Gary before sacrificing their picks and a player. But you never know with this league.

looks like he is going to play...

Welcome back Mr Gait! I sure missed you, I don't know about anybody else. >.<

I am sure he will be rocking the High Lights....

yeah, im sure they did talk to him, he said he wanted to play again so im sure he will. its just that hes retired and i dont think anything in that trade was forcing him to come out and play. NOBODY KNOWS!

“The interest was sparked because the Knighthawks had an interest. I told my kids and they got really excited and told me I had to play and I don’t like turning down my kids,” said Gary, who is the father of two children: Taylor and Braedon. “As an athlete I am looking forward to competing again at the highest level." - Gary Gait

looks to me like a for sure thing. He is now close to his job at Syracuse and looks like it could work.

I think they gave up to much to get him. TWO FIRST ROUND PICKS!!!!

Guys, we're talking about Gary Gait here. Best lacrosse player..ever. Period. I know people will say "But he's older" or "But he hasn't played in years ". How many guys on this site don't play anymore, but are still in good enough shape to jump in to a league if the opportunity arose. With Gary's ability alone I would give him 60pts this coming season, but all reports are saying he's in shape and roaring to go. I cant wait to see him back on the floor. MVP/Combacker of the year?

Great news! It will be greater news still if it results in a new TV package for the NLL... HERE'S HOPING!!

On another note, think there is any chance they could lure Paul out as well?

SERIOUSLY doubt that! Anyway, teams with both Gary and Paul have won how many championships? Sometimes too much of a good thing is a bad thing....

Paul Gait tried to come out of retirement after being out for a year or more. I think it was towards the end of the '03 season, right at the trade deadline. It backfired big time - Paul was fat, slow, and out of sync.

I always thought Gary was better than Paul, and certainly had better health in the few years up to retirement. Even so, don't hold your hopes too high - Gary's been out for several years and looks a wee bit heavy in the latest picture!

Gary is a BC boy, and you can bet he is in tip-top shape. According to the article on the NLL insider, he is in tremendous shape.

can you imagine Gait and Jr together ? If Rochester has given up the next two years first rounder maybe that means Gait will play for a year or two . If he only plays offence he just might last a couple of years. Scary thoughts for defensive coaches..Gait and Jr on the floor at the same time

I was told that Six Nations is buying the Nighthawks and moving them to Hamilton. Gary was offered a bunch of money to come out and play.

Not sure of the validity but....

while I certainly can't even dream of comparing myself to Mr. Gait, I had not played since 1971 until this past summer when about 150 guys(and a few girls) answered a call for a league here in Denver.....the founders were figuring on maybe 20-30 guys......lots of them had never played, or their kids play and they wanted the experience...we had a seven week schedule, played double headers and wheezed a lot but it was fun, and it will be a lot of fun to see Gary with a stick in his hands again....while I can't root for Rochester (Mammoth and Outlaws here) I do wish him all the best and may the scoring gods be with him............

how old is he? I've never seen him play i'm pumped to see him in action
when does the season start?
