I'm doing a Bio project. It involves the instrumental version of this song. History of Everything by Barenaked ladies. I tried everything to get rid of the vocals but it did not work. I have also have tried countless of programs trying to get rid of the vocal.

If anyone can send me a program or just do it for me it would be great.

The hard thing about extracting vocals is that you'll usually have unwanted background noise from other aspects of the song. The human voice is about ~80 Hz to ~1100 Hz (give or take) even with programs to kill sound frequencies outside what you want, you'll still find that there will be some unwanted sound in it still.

In conclusion, get on Google and research for yourself. No ones going to do your homework.

With a phonograph, it's easy.

Simply wire one channel of the cartridge leads out of phase with respect to the other channel. Now, set your system's output to monaural rather than stereo. The vocal portion will be gone.

Why does this work? Since the vocal portion of most pop songs is monaural, the vocal information in the right channel and the vocal information in the left channel, now out-of-phase, will cancel each other. All that will be left is the instruments.

Piece of cake.
