Hinged Knee Braces
Hey Guys and Girls
I've been struggling with knee injuries for years. My ortho has finally decided a hinged knee brace (similar to football linemen) is my best option when playing sports. I was thinking about how bulky it might be and the chances of getting hit with it on would be. If you've worn one for any sport, I'd appreciate any comments (positive or negative) about them just so I can decide. I've obviously talked to my ortho but he's not really all that familiar with lacrosse and wasn't much help. Thanks! Bucs
When people ask me why I play goalie, I say because I love it. When people tell me I'm crazy, they act like it's something I don't know.

my senior year in high school i tore my acl right before the season so my doctor told me to get one of those braces. I wore it the entire year and my knee held up perfectly. Not only did the brace give me confidence to step hard to the ball but i never even noticed it was there. It breaks in very well and you can move very easily. The only time you do notice it is occasionally when you are running but it wasn't to noticeable.
all in all i would definitely suggest getting one. plus if you get the donjoy one it guarantees you won't tear your acl. because of this i still wear mine today |

I too was under the impression when I first tore both of them that I would be wearing a brace for the rest of my life, sports wise. But they said otherwise.

well i wore one for football and i was going to for lacrosse as well because i tore my meniscus kast year in the spring during lacrosse season, and playing with it on it is not all that noticable and i helps to prevent many injuries in incidents where with out the brace there would be significant damage.
sadly i tore both my acl and my meniscus on my unbraced knee 4 weeks ago playing football so now i have a brace for that one too and im out for both wrestling and lacrosse, all of this a couple days after getting afull ride scholarship to Maryland for football.
My previous sig was illegal so now i have this.
