While I'm sure someone on here knows, I would check with Syracuse University for information on local lacrosse recreational leagues, for a more immediate response. They should have information there about what is going on in the community, and they should also know whether or not playing in those leagues violates NCAA rules and regulations. (I'm assuming you're playing for the college)

Syracuse is right next to Onondaga, where the Onondaga Redhawks play in the
NAMLA. You can check out their website for their team or others close by
www.redhawkslax.com. However, most box season runs about the same time as field
or in the early summer months. Since you are college age, you want to find a club
that offers intermediate teams (17-21) or some off-season rec league.

The teams listed in the NAMLA are:

NAMLA teams:
Onondaga Redhawks (p,t,n,pw,b,m,i)
Allegany Arrows (p,t,n,pw,b,m,i)
Newtown Golden Eagles (p,t,n,pw,b,m,i)
Tonawanda Braves (p,t,n,pw,b,m,i)
Niagara Devil Dogs (p,t,n,pw,b,m)
Oneida Silverhawks (n,pw,m)

Good luck.
We're all here, because we're not all there

CNY box leagues
Currently there is an outdoor box league at tully high school which runs through august. You may be able to show up and play. Games start at 6,7, and 8.
Ultimate goal mens league starts up again toward the beginning of fall. Pretty good league with unusual net sizes (5x5). You could probably play on my team, last session we were consistently short of players (1 or 2 reserves). However, I am not the captain so I couldn't say. Let me know if you want any contact info.
The league on the onondaga reservation is "in-house" or by invite if you aren't part of the reservation. Competition is very good.

Hope that helps.

by the way
The Tully league is on thursdays. The Onondaga league I was speaking of is not associated with the redhawks senior b team although you never know who will be showing up. The Senior B team is professional level box. Great to watch! Cheers

i will be playing for sryracuse club next year, as a freshman. I dont know the area, and only contacted the captain/president of the team. I played indoor at like indoor soccer places, with the smaller nets, but field like goalies. I come from a hockey background, so i figured box would be better, and help me play better position Defense(i play LSM and Defense in field).

Defensive transition would be the best position for you. In fact, you should have the opportunity to score some breakaway goals.

nothing better than having scoreing in transistion, a LSM's dream

Labor Day Box
There will be a box league starting up, probably toward the end of September, at "ultimate goal" in Marcellus (about 20 minutes from Syracuse). Do a search to bring up their website and give them a call to if you are looking for a more exact start. Like I had said in my previous post, you could probably play on my team or a few others that are typically a little short on the bench.
