Casey Powell Oakley Visor, *pics as promised*
As promised, here are some pics of the visor Casey Powell had on at the tournament. Enjoy.

Not sure if its legal or not, but it sure as hell looks cool.

If you want to read more about his trip to Hawaii, here is his journal on E-Lacrosse...pictures are located there as well (including a picture of us picking him up at the airport)

It is because if you are injured first aid staff will not be able to see your eyes in order to assess your condition. I believe clear visors are allowed.

To get one you've gotta go through their team sales. That's what they said when I called them at least.

Edit: I'm also pretty sure it's the fire iridium color after looking at the many different colors on the website.

well wouldn't a visor being clear kind of defeat the purpose of a visor in the first place?

Not really if there's a sandpit in the area in front of the goal.

Pretty cool if you ask me.
11-17-2005, 05:17 PM
ya, its not even on ebay, but the blacks ones are...
11-17-2005, 05:40 PM
thats an ugly color. Theres a certain tinted maroon / red that looks badass. A seahawks receiver wears one.

Looks dumb to me. Those oakleys stopped being cool in the 90's.

I like attackmen to be able to see my eyes anyway. Eyes can pierce through the soul...

Haha.

I think it looks dumb with a Brine XP. IMO, it owuld probably look lame with a CPro as well. However, they are sick for football. I would get one with the dark gray color, it looks sick. Like the pick of LT in Sports Illustrated.

As for the dude who said something about medical reasons, I don't know if I beleive that. Football players wear 'em, and they drop the shoulder a helluva lot more frequently and with much more power than in lacrosse. ANybody got any facts?

EDIT* Guy SMiley was correct. Check the thread about visors. Even real G's make mistakes...

The guy from the seahawks who wore one was Koren Robinson but hes with the vikings now
11-18-2005, 07:45 AM
Screw Robocop. I'm getting a very Master Chief-esque vibe off of that visor.

I don't consider this a good thing.

Fresh to death. I wouldnt wear one (I wear too much nice stuff as it is), but for someone flashy and ****y like Casey Powell its freaking sweet.

That's the first thing I thought when I looked at it, too. I think it's kind of cool, though, but not on an XP or any other Brine helmet. I cannot stand the look of Brine helmets. I think it would be absolutely sick on a Viking or maybe CPX.

A while ago, Styrke featured a lax helmet with a lexan shield and no nose bar. I even contacted them if it were ever to come to market. I wonder what ever came of the develoment?

I think Casey's visor should have only extended as far the bridge of his nose, not past his nostrils, even under warm temperatures all his co2 is gonna fog up his face.

I pressume that the visor is probably made of a hard shatter resistant shield similiar to the ones worn in ice hockey, if they raised the cross bar, extended it, it would be suffcient to to stop the ball and the shield would be hard enough-more than adequate- to take a poke check in the face.
Nice shield .

yeah, because they dont want to have to move your neck to see your eyes, so clear ones are ok.

These would look way better on Cascade helmets...and even better if they followed the shape of the bars on your helmet, like they do in football.

he is right, you cant have anything dark sheilding your eyes, it is to see if they dialate under a light... and It is super intimidating playing against casey with that helmet on, you cant tell where he is going to shoot or pass. if you look close you can see that he is wearing that helmet because it is signed by a ton of people at the tourney! www.laxgear.net
