Thanks!
Brine Canada did have them for their wood goal sticks (made by Patterson). Since Brine Canada (Lacrosse International) is no more, my only suggestion (I haven't tried this) is to order from Jimalax and request that you need the goalie mesh to be al least twice as long as one for a plastic goalie stick.

Warrior and Gait are the two coming out with the big plastic stick. The Warrior Wall is due out November. The Gait Quad has some problems with the offset of the shaft connection I have been told and will be some time before hitting the field.

i really hope the gait does come out soon, the wall is just bad. think big nasty but bigger and nastier.....yah not good.

I have seen the Warrior one and it is is called the wall, that doesnt look like the wall I could be wrong
09-17-2007, 12:05 AM
it doesn't look like the gait quad that is pictured on the gait website as the bottom edge on the quad is angled . I was also told that the Gait Quad has an offset shaft( for leftires or righties) and that the problems that are delaying production is due to too big an angle. I was also told by a couple of WLA goalies that tried the Gait out that the offset was too big . laxgoalieking..have you tried out the wall ? That stick that Levis is using has no angled bottom edge and no offset handle. Is anybody know for sure which stick Levis is using ?

i tried the wall at the fest in whitby, no good. i'm posetive the one levis has is angled, laxcanada and i looked at pics for hours, cause we're that cool i guess. He also has a throtle on his. I was told by the warrior rep the offset shaft is for the wall
09-17-2007, 12:24 AM
laxgoalieking..what didn't you like about the Wall..too flexible ? poor workmanship ? just wondering as my local sports guy is at a big sporting good show this week and is meeting with the warrior guys on tuesday. I definitely want one of these big plastic sticks for my son but i want to buy the best one.
09-17-2007, 12:37 AM
its like the big nasty, same cheap plastic. its just bigger and nastier. its very flexible due to the size and design. the gait one is overall better with teh carbon in lays and longer throat. The best thing to do is have him test out both, you dont wanna shell out 180 bucks for a head if its garbage, like so many were suckered into with the big nasty.

wow i thought about that so long ago.......... i should have patented it

laxgoalieking..thanks for the feedback..Collins also played with the same stick as Levis..I am going to try and track Levis and talk to him about his stick. I have also been told that the NLL might not allow the big sticks in to play this year. That would suck..they make the nets bigger, get downright nasty about gear size. They let guys dive into the crease and score and then crash the goalie and they don't do nothing about it. The last two years has been a big nightmare for gear for my son as he needed exemptions to wear the proper gear( size 3)to protect him but he was only a Bantam. I lost count on how many times he has been measured and never been tossed .

A Couple of Points of Clarification

The Scottish goalie at the World Indoors in Halifax NS in May, WAS Derek "D-Rock" Collins, back-up tender for the Mann Cup Champion Peterborough Lakers. Whatever problems he had with stringing and throwing were clearly solved by the time the OLA Major Series play-offs started.

As to the matter of the angled mouth of the stick, how about this (which I have not yet confirmed with Gait): different length sidewalls on the goalie Quad for field and box, one of each on the head makes a "custom" stick for rightie or leftie.

haha yup were deffinatly cool
the levis head does have an angled scoop, ill see if i can find a link with it
and the wall is going to come on an offset shaft(which wont work very well)

I see that the angled scoop would likely be meant to somewhat simulate a wood goal stick in the regard that the scoop stays flat on the floor while in the stance. However, if it throws like a wood stick, then I would give the Quad a chance.

i aws looking through alot of pics with levis using it last night, and it doesnt apear to have any flex at all in stance of clamping/throwing
09-17-2007, 11:18 PM
Yet this pix appears that there is no angle at all on the bottom of the stick,
http://public.fotki.com/Weezer/l/man...7/img1529.html
definitely appears to be very little flex in the stick in any of the pixs
09-18-2007, 03:21 PM
the angle is hard to see from the side, its more apparent from head on
regardless of the scoop, this stick may revolutionize goalie sticks along wiht its field version
10-15-2007, 12:22 PM
Well, I've been needing a new head this season, and I was going to pick up the Gait, but as its release is being pushed out to next year, I just ordered up one of the Wall's. Unfortunately, I can't wait and getting a woodie over here to Eire would be way to much for my budget. So I figure why not? I'll play the guiney pig for you guys and let you know how this thing fares in weekly combat..
10-15-2007, 08:42 PM
I seen and handled both sticks this past weekend. I should have my Wall shortly. The Quad looked pretty good with the angled bottom but it's no good if it keeps breaking at the joints. Four pieces to me is three pieces too many. three places too many to break.

Is bigger always better ?

There is a lot of debate about those 2 sticks. From my part I tend to like smaller size sticks like the Money from Brine. Yes it is smaller but I find them easier to work with on ball controll ant throwing. Because after we stop that ball we must do something with it. My fear with these sticks (wich remind me of fishing nets), is they would be harder to control when throwing and I fear they would break more easily.

So is bigger always better ? That is the question we must ask ourselves.

I screwed up trying to post pixs the first time but the next post has pictures of my son with all three gaol sticks to show the difference

here's a Wall

here's a normal field goalie stick

here's a normal woodie

as you can see the Wall fills the five hole much better. It throws great right out the store. My son has noticed that with the size of it it doesn't twist in his hand on hard shots like a litle field stick can. He was out this past weekend with some Senior players and they noticed it doesn't twist in a goalies hand either..they were impressed with it but didn't like it due to the size of it
11-20-2007, 04:57 PM
I agree that in these picture the wall does look bigger than the woodie, and I understand that your son is 6'5 but his woodie looks tiny. The woodie I use has a much flatter scoope and just overall looks bigger. I want to get a big plastic stick and I was kind of banking on the Quad as it looked bigger and more stable overall in the mann cup pics but oh well. The investment will be made this winter in the wall, then maybe next year I'll try out the quad.

They are sick, my goalie used one for the past three games and I'll say "The Wall" is an appropriate name. We got it here:

I saw five of them yesturday at Lax Shack in Pickering. They are becoming a little more common.

Are we talking about the Lax Shack? I've always had problems with their service. I remember maybe 3 or 4 years ago I went in to buy a new head because I cracked my old one. I decided to buy a Warrior Evo Pro, it looked and felt good in the store from just cradling it and what have you. I then took it home and put it on my shaft and after taking 1 shot I knew it wouldn't work for me, it hooked sooo much. I took it back and they hesistantly let me return it, they figured I had wrecked it some how So anyways, one of their employees (guy played junior A or B) had just strung up a revo pro with the traditional style pocket. It looked tighter and not as baggy so I figured it would be a lot better but it was not. I took it back and it had a mark on it, this was from the junior AorB player when he was stringing it, I assume. They thought I marked it up After a lot of arguing they finally allowed me to return it. A couple weeks later a buddy on my team told me to buy another evo pro because he strings them like crazy, needless to say I learned how to string myself after the horrible service they showed me.

The head is the Gait Box Quad Goalie Head.

It is a four piece design, it is made of fibre glass, it does not bend and is light as it gets.

The head is angled at the lip to sit flat on the floor. This does mean that it comes in left and right hand models.

The head is much larger then a woodie, if you consider a woodie is more like a triangle and the quad is rectangular.

Heres an overlapping comparison between the Wall and my Mohawk Wood stick.

IMHO, the extra coverage near the throat on the Wall is minimal (about an inch). The inside width of a Mohawk wood goal stick is still wider than the Wall at its widest point. Also, the head length of a Mohawk wood goal stick can vary from one stick to another depending on where one person wants the backbend (the throat).
